The Christmas Tag

I absolutely love this time of year and am so excited about all things Christmas so am very pleased to have an excuse for another Christmas themed post. I’m going to see if I can finish this in record speed before it is time to wake my toddler up from her nap. Victoria at The Growing Mum tagged me in her Christmas tag post so here goes:

The Christmas Tag 2017 - The Growing Mum

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Elf! I didn’t really grow up particularly watching Christmas films so I haven’t really ever been into all the old ones.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Not a proper one. Just a little dusting of snow here and there.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

I’ve been married coming up 10 years and we have spent every Christmas morning together. Our daughter Zara is now 2 and we are trying to keep a tradition of having Christmas morning just as a family. We open our stocking presents in bed with a coffee and then go downstairs for croissants and a bit more present opening. We then venture out to see family or sometimes we host. Fortunately our family are all quite local we don’t have to travel far and can see lots of different people easily.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Silent Night…or Sleigh Ride (the orchestral version) We always have Classic FM on over Christmas and I absolutely love all the Christmas music. If I’m thinking down the cheesy Christmas party lines then probably Last Christmas.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No! We never did this in my family. I’m always so tempted but I like to save them all for Christmas Day.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

I’m now thinking of the tune at the beginning of Rudolph the red nose reindeer trying to remember all the names or the bit in The Night Before Christmas where Santa calls the reindeer. How many are there meant to be? Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Blitzen and obviously Rudolph. I think there should be one more?

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

I’ve loved some traditions already. Zara has taken part in 2 nativities and a christingle service which were all lovely. We also took her to see Santa twice (little bit over indulgent but hey, who’s counting?). It’s nice having such a young child because I feel like we can start making our own traditions as our own little family, not just doing whatever we had done growing up. You can read about what we’ve been up to so far this Christmas in my previous post.

I’m also looking forward to seeing lots of family, eating Christmas dinner and opening presents!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

What is your favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

All the chocolate…and pigs in blankets….and cranberry sauce with turkey.

What is the best present you have ever received?

I really don’t think I can think of one thing. Probably perfume (Jo Malone and Chanel) because its not something I really buy myself but I wouldn’t want to live without it.

Where is your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

New York! I couldn’t imagine being somewhere sunny or somewhere where Christmas isn’t really celebrated.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I fail miserably. I try really hard and save loads of pics on Pinterest of beautifully wrapped gifts but I am rubbish. It usually doesn’t start off too badly but I’m very impatient and the standard usually gets lower and lower the more I wrap.

Most memorable Christmas memory?

Probably the year my daughter was born. She was 5 weeks old at Christmas. I was exhausted but very happy.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I really cannot remember. I know my sister and I pretended to believe in Santa for years just for fun.

What makes the holidays special for you?

The Christmas season is the only time my husband and I get time off together (apart from weekends) just pottering about, seeing family and chilling at home. Usually if he’s off its because we are going away. I love seeing family but also just love that time off together. We go to church and I really love all the Christmas services and events. They are always really special.

I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my Christmas world. Now I’m going to tag:
