52 Weeks of Gratitude Week 11

Week 11: Someone that inspires you

Lots of people in my life inspire me in different ways so I am going to cheat and not just write about one person. There are people who inspire me musically, people who inspire me with fashion, people who inspire me as parents and people who inspire me at church but I am also very inspired by the members of my immediate family.

My mum has always inspired me. We do similar jobs and she comes with a wealth of experience that I frequently draw on. She’s a brilliant musician. When I was a teenager I used to spend hours making her accompany me singing songs from musicals. It is her creativity and musicality that inspired me to keep pursuing music. She’s also a brilliant teacher. Last year she was involved in a serious accident and spent 7 weeks in hospital and had a long road to recovery at home. She was incredibly brave, strong and continued to put others first. I remember her making me text the head teacher of her school to apologise for not being at work at the start of the new term. Having recovered from multiple traumatic injuries including two broken legs she is now preparing to walk 16 miles to raise money for the ward she was on last year. You can find out more about this here

My dad is incredibly hard working and one of the most thoughtful and self less people I know. He is totally prepared to go out of his way to help. He has always been brilliant at helping in practical ways and now does this for his job. If you need help or advice with something he will research it and think about it and really give you his time.

My sister is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She is so good at making people feel welcome and chatting to new people. She’s genuinely lovely! She is also ridiculously talented, creative and interesting.  you can check out her work here
